It’s really hard putting together tribute mixes for the artists that mean so much to me. Whitney Houston was a very inspirational part of why I am what I am today. Yes, I was one of the children she was talking about in “The Greatest Love Of All” and this is the future the she was referring to. She taught me well and now its time for me to lead the way for the next child.

I wish people could really see my mental vision when I’m creating these mixes. Take 06:41 of the mix for instance. I pictured Whitney walking into heaven singing, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and then by 06:56 she looks to her left and her right and realizes that dreams do come true. She see’s there is a Soul Train Line in heaven. Picture that, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Heavy D, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Aaliyah, ect all in a Soul Train Line dancing as they welcome Whitney into heaven and of course Don Cornelius would be on the mic. These are just the thoughts that inspire me when I create these mixes. Its more than just music to me, its more like a mental portrait that I love to paint with sound. R.I.P. Whitney Houston and Thank You.

When Skillz was on tour in the 90′s I was his hype man and I remember doing a show with him that also had Redman & Fat Joe on the bill. Aside from all of the sexy Puerto-Rican women that surrounded Joe, I also saw another Big Guy with him, later on to find out that was his hype man, “Big Punisher”. Both ended up being good friends of mine and later I would be asked to come up to NY & be in a video which feat Fat Joe, Big Pun & The Terror Squad [Where I also met DJ Khaled, Dj Nasty & DJ Jaycee for the first time]. That was the last time I saw Big Pun in person… R.I.P. My brother…. I’m gonna rock out for you today at Noon on Ipower921. #Salute

After Diddy’s 23 year stint as the top artist to have the most number one rap songs on the Billboard charts, Drake overthrows Diddy’s reign with his 11th #1 single, “Proud” featuring Nicki Minaj. “Proud” is getting quite comfy in the #1 spot for it’s second week since releasing.

Diddy hasn’t expressed his thoughts on losing his title, but I’m sure he’s too busy to even notice. With him having flings across the U.S. with Cameron Diaz, taste tasting new Ciroc ideas, and forming a blueprint for his new “all music” channel, Revolt, (set to debut 12/12/12) him making a new #1 rap song to reclaim his title is the last thing on his mind. Or is it?

Anyway, in just three years, Drake has definitely left an impression on the industry and it’s time we give him his “propers”. Here are Drake’s 11 #1 songs and you tell if I’ve given him the “Billboard King” title in vain.

“Best I Ever Had” (15), 2009
“Forever” (one) (featuring Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem), 2009
“Say Something” (four) (Timbaland featuring Drake), 2010
“Over” (four), 2010
“Fancy” (one) (featuring T.I. & Swizz Beatz), 2010
“Right Above It” (five) (Lil Wayne featuring Drake), 2010
“Aston Martin Music” (three) (Rick Ross featuring Drake & Chrisette Michele), 2010
“Moment 4 Life” (nine) (Nicki Minaj featuring Drake), 2011
“I’m on One” (13) (DJ Khaled featuring Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne), 2011 “Headlines” (seven), 2011
“Make Me Proud” (one, to-date) (featuring Nicki Minaj), 2012
